Vigan Ilocos Norte, Philippines
Ilocos Norte is a province of the Phillippines located in the Ilocos Region. Its capital is Laoag City and is located at the nortwest corner of Luzon Island. It is noted being the birthplace of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos who led an authoritarian rule over the country. The city's full name at the time of its Spanish foundation was Villa Fernandina, or "Town of Ferdinand", in honor of Prince Ferdinand.
It was an 8-hour long, tiring and fun trip from Manila to Vigan using our car. Fortunately, we never met any mishaps all throughout the travel. We just passed by to Vigan in our fist visit, because our first itinerary that time is Baguio City to witness Panagbenga festival. We arrived at Vigan at 4pm and took some pictures in Calle Crisologo, in the Heritage Village of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Calle Crisologo
Calle Crisologo has a history that rivals Intramuros in terms of richness and antiquity. The street itself is of cobblestone, lined with heritage houses on both sides.
Vigan's Dancing Fountain Show
Vigan’s dancing fountain show starts at seven in the evening and lasts for about thirty minutes. If you missed it, worry not, it has a repeat performance after an hour. And again, if you manage to also miss that, you still have tomorrow’s show to watch—it runs every night.
But please, be sure not to miss it; it’s one of the things that would definitely stick with you after visiting the city; it literally puts Vigan City in a whole new light.
Tips:
*There are fastfoods, restaurants and bars everywhere like Greenwich,Max's and Etc.
*Souvenirs are everywhere also.
*Calle Crisologo and dancing fountain in Plaza are walking distance, but there are also parking lots near in Plaza.
*Vigan is alive at night time they have resto bars everywhere.Try to experience Vigan at night but if you can you could also try in day time and stay overnight.
Second itenerary
Our second itenerary was in Bangui Mills located in Pagudpud Ilocos Norte. It took a couple of hours to get in Bangui Mills from Vigan. Hence, it's all worth it!
The beautiful scenery of Bangui Mills in Pagudpud.
Windmills face the sea from where the wind blows towards the land
The area is undeveloped and uninhabited making it ideal as a site and poses no threat to the environment.
